Transforming Residential Blocks Through PAS 2035 Retrofit Design

AHP were appointed in 2024 by Equans to deliver PAS 2035–compliant EWI retrofit drawings, specifications, and thermal detailing for nine residential blocks on Shirestone Road and Overpool Road, Birmingham.

Refurbishment works are now nearing completion, significantly improving both the thermal performance and appearance of the buildings. Upgrades to external walls and windows provide warmer homes, reduced energy bills, and a compliant whole-house approach to energy efficiency.

The introduction of External Wall Insulation creates a continuous thermal envelope, eliminating cold bridging and improving internal comfort. Modern materials and updated colour palettes also deliver a clear aesthetic uplift, positively enhancing the local streetscape.

Overall, the works extend building life expectancy, reduce energy costs, and create healthier, more comfortable homes for residents.
