Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking
Introduction
AHP Architects and Surveyors Ltd acknowledge the provisions set out in the Modern Slavery Act (2015) and this policy is made pursuant to Section 54. We are committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking within our activities and that our supply chains and sub-consultants are also free from slavery and human trafficking.
This document sets out the organisations position and future plans to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to our business and to put in place steps to ensure there is no slavery related to our general custom & practice and supply chains.

Our Ethos
We are committed to respecting and upholding human rights wherever we operate in respect of activities under our full and direct control. This applies equally to our employees, suppliers, and business partners, all of whom are expected to adopt the same, or similar high standards of ethical behaviour. We are committed to conducting business responsibly and to maintaining and improving systems and processes to minimise the risk of slavery and human trafficking within our business or supply chain.

Our Approach

To maintain high ethical standards and act in a socially responsible manner in accordance with applicable laws;

to maintain and improve our policies and processes in relation to human rights wherever we operate, in respect of activities under the full and direct control of our organisation.

To respect the labour and workforce rights of our employees in accordance with national laws;

To appoint and work with suppliers and business partners who share our high standards of ethical behaviour and business conduct, consistent with our own, and in accordance with applicable national laws.
All employees are required to adhere to this policy.

Stakeholder Engagement
Ultimately, the Directors are accountable in terms of compliance with this policy, and understanding the expectations of our stakeholders is critical to the long-term sustainability of our business. We actively encourage employees to speak up without retribution and anonymously if preferred should they have any concerns or report modern slavery. If a concern were received then it would be escalated with the Directors for investigation. If modern slavery or human trafficking activities were found within our operations or directly contracted suppliers or consultants, we would act immediately to co-operate fully with all relevant authorities to ensure that our work is not perpetuating modern slavery. This may include making changes to our internal policies and processes and terminating our relationship with the supplier, or consultant if appropriate.
Due Diligence
Prior to approving and selecting suppliers and consultants we ensure that they complete questionnaires and risk based due diligence assessments on their policies and arrangements relative to the Modern Slavery Act (2015). The output from the questionnaire and risk based due diligence assessment is assessed prior to the suppliers, or consultant being either approved, or deemed unsuitable. In some cases suppliers or consultants may be approved subject to them completing corrective plans.
Training
Safeguarding training in respect of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking is offered to all staff at AHP. This is in the form of a Modern Day Slavery Awareness desktop course providing a detailed insight into what modern slavery and human trafficking are, UK legislation and how to spot the signs of modern slavery and offer support. Refresher desktop courses are undertaken within appropriate timeframes.
