The patient pharmacy within Whittington Hospital was part of the original PFI Build and had not been refurbished since being built. Storage and dispensing of prescription drugs were undertaken by hand and the system was outdated and slow.

AHP were approached by the trust to redesign the pharmacy space to support a new robot storage and dispensing system. The project involved close liaison with the robot manufacturer, BD, to provide the correct environment for the installation. The works also included a new main counter for ‘over the counter’ products. The finished project provided a new fresh dispensary which saw a 30% increase in footfall.
