Nechells Green, Birmingham
Client:
River Towers had a 16-month Construction Phase and comprised the renovation of three concrete framed 16 storey apartment towers that were constructed circa 1961. The design objectives were to improve fire safety, thermal performance, and visual appeal.
To meet current fire regulations and improve overall aesthetic of the towers, AHP plans involved removing the existing cladding and windows and replacing these with an EWI rendered cladding system.
The refurbishment improved fire safety, thermal efficiency and the 3 towers aesthetic, engaging and re-energised the local community. The River Towers, Thames, Severn & Medway Towers are now gateway structures as the City Centre is approached from the Northeast along the A47.
