This retrofit project involved the architectural redesign and thermal upgrade of a 9-story tower block located in Woodgate, Birmingham. The project was undertaken in partnership with Fortem Solutions, with the aim of delivering a Stage 4 RIBA Plan of Works Architectural Package and providing design development support through Stage 5. The initiative is part of Birmingham City Council's £1.6 billion, seven-year investment plan to enhance the quality, insulation, and energy efficiency of its housing stock.

The design brief was tailored towards enhancing the building's thermal performance to reduce energy consumption and improve resident comfort, thus giving residents access to higher quality more energy efficient homes. AHP also assisted by implementing design to the new enclosed balconies, ensuring good design detailing was followed for the external walls and external spread of fire.
