Residential
Middle Park Estate (Abdon Avenue) Retrofit Scheme
Birmingham
Value:
£12.5m
AHP worked alongside our client, Fortem, to support the large-scale transformation of Middle Park Estate (Abdon Avenue) in Birmingham. Delivered in partnership with Birmingham City Council and supported by £12.5 million of Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2.1 funding, the project represents a significant investment in the long-term performance and liveability of the estate.
The scheme comprised a comprehensive PAS 2035–compliant retrofit across 415 homes within 32 blocks, addressing both energy efficiency and the overall quality of residents’ homes. AHP developed a comprehensive design package for the scheme that balanced performance improvement with durability, buildability and resident experience.
Key measures delivered as part of the works included:
• External wall insulation
• Window replacements
• Roofing and façade remediation
• Enhancement to ventilation and airtightness
Now completed and successfully lodged, the project is already delivering tangible benefits. Homes are warmer and more energy efficient, residents are seeing reductions in their energy bills, and the overall appearance and condition of the estate has been significantly improved.
