The Trust identified the need for a new Radiology treatment centre to be based at their Pembury site.

The main elements of this were two linear accelerators (linacs).

Due to the radiation produced by the linacs, they are housed within a protective bunker.  Along with these linac bunkers, the design included accommodation such as changing areas, consulting rooms, offices, waiting areas and WCs.

The main building would be clad in rammed earth walling, which gives the building a solid and natural feel and the variation in the earth layers provides a visually striking entrance yet, at the same time, complements the landscape of the existing site.

AHP were appointed to provide feasibility options for the Trust to review.
