The existing site, which was located within the metropolitan green belt, housed a pair of semi-detached houses which were previously used as nurse’s accommodation.
The proposals comprised a single storey development based around a central courtyard as the focus of the development. Around this courtyard were located 6 one-bedroom flats with two independence training rooms and associated staff facilities towards the front of the site. The layout of the proposals allowed all the flats and communal areas of the scheme to be wheelchair accessible providing a completely step free development.
Great Meadows offers large communal spaces for people to develop independent skills or use for social time, also having the benefit of the allotment next door offers further opportunities to enjoy exercise in green space.
