AHP were appointed by a private client to design an extension and associated alterations to their home in Finham, Coventry.

The client’s 24 year old son has Cerebral Palsy and their current property has become unsuitable for his needs.  We were asked to design alterations which would enable the bungalow to still feel like a family home but, with the benefit of improved access for their son.  The design needed to include accommodation for the on-site carer, and, therefore, the extension featured a studio apartment with private access to protect the privacy of both the carer and the family.

As a large proportion of the house is open plan and every room is wheelchair accessible, the proposed plans will allow our clients and their son a much more independent living arrangement.

Plans have been submitted and are expected to be approved before Christmas.
